Called in to see Liz and Phil

On our way back from Shades, we called in to see Liz and Phil at their new summer cottage on Racoon Lake. They were all there chilled as one could be after spending their entire weekend sitting by the lake and enjoying a family weekend!!

It was nice to see their new abode!!

Memorial Day in Shades State Park

Today was Memorial Day here in the US and we had a day off. Pat, Anja and myself took ourselves off to Shades State Park, a nature reserve with very cool ravines around Sugar Creek in western Indiana. It's about an hours drive from West Lafayette.

We all had a great time although hiking in the ravines when its over 90F is not something to snort at!! Anja was extremely curious and was very insistent that she could walk everywhere !! We were either moving along or very slowly indeed. She was also an avid naturalist, everything had to be examined in great detail!!

Took some nice photos, but my favourite is this one of Anja and Pat. This was taken under the forest canopy whilst standing in a ray of light peeking through!!

Short Walk to Purdue

On my bike ride this afternoon, I had the idea that Anja may now be old enough to play in the fountains located on the Purdue campus. We took ourselves off there to see how well she would take to it.....

Like A Duck to Water...she loved it. After a few cautious moments, she was running in and out carefully watching all the other kids and trying her best to copy them.

I got a few nice shots before I had a brainwave (try setting the shutter settings on the camera to get some funky water shots). It worked in theory. Turned out that the shutter speed was far to fast and not enough light made it to the processor. It was quite angry since I had captured many Kodak moments (well of course there we not Kodak moments rather Canon moments).

I managed to recover a few (shown below) with some auto contrasting but they will never be the same.

Anyhow, we still had a great time.

Breakfast with Lorraine & Randy

Hi

A recap on the weekend thus far:

On Friday evening we went over to our neighbours house, The Krause's. It was Phil's birthday - rumor had it that he turned 21!!! We all had a great time, great food, lots of drinks sitting by their pool.

Lynne left for a week long tour to Scandinavia Saturday morning. She will be in Sweden for 4 days and the remainder in Finland. She will return on Saturday morning and Anja, Pat and myself will travel to Chicago Saturday morning to meet her!! (If you happen to check the blog - Hi Love, we miss you).

Saturday evening we went to a BBQ at Sue and Greg's house. Once again, very enjoyable evening sitting by their pool with good food and lots of good company!! Forgot to take the camera so there is no visual evidence!!

This morning (Sunday) we cooked breakfast for Lorraine and Randy. We had a very lazy Sunday morning, literally ate a big fried breakfast and sat on our bums whilst we drank pot after pot of tea catching up on all their gossip. After Randy recounted his 50 mile bile trip yesterday, it motivated me to get out on the bike. I managed to skip round for 30 miles while Anja was having her afternoon nap. It was a sweltering 90F so I was a little dehydrated once I reached home again. I enjoyed it!!
