Weekend in Chicago

Connor and I had a great weekend in Chicago with Kay. We hit all our planned activities and even managed to meet Kay’s friend Anita for dinner. We took the subway as a special treat for Connor.

He really liked our day touring around the park area of Chicago, the bean, the many fountains, the new Maggie Daley Park and the strawberry snow cone I let him have were obvious hits. It was a great way to spend Father’s day, I enjoyed our day together buddy! A few select photos of the day are shown below.

Shedd Aquarium

Connor and I are visiting Chicago again this weekend. Since Lynne and the girls are in the UK, and will be for another two weeks, I’m trying to make our time together as much fun as possible. We went swimming and this morning we had our trip to the Shedd Aquarium for a few hours (he ran out of steam pretty quickly).

Tomorrow we’re going to check out the new Maggie Daley Park and then of course a short walk over to see “The Bean”. Anybody out there have any suggestions for a short weekend trip next weekend?

Glad Midsommar

Today is midsommar in Sweden and for those of you who don’t know, it’s by far the country’s largest national holiday. We spent five wonderful years in Sweden; those days are filled with terrific memories of the country and its people. To all our friends enjoying the day in Sweden, Glad midsommar, we miss you!! Hopefully the weather is playing nice.

Shown below are a few pictures of past midsommar activities,we have enjoyed, three separate occasions.

Green Lake Wisconsin

Connor and I returned from Green Lake Wisconsin tonight, pretty tired after a long weekend. This was a weekend for three of my MBA class friends to try something different and hopefully something of a tradition, getting together with a few of our children at a lake-house. We travelled to Chicago on Thursday evening and stayed with Kay before meeting Ben and Sasha to drive together on Friday morning. We met up with Joe and Riley in Wisconsin and then later with Jeff, Lucas and Bobby.

We aimed for low-key activities, a chance for the kids to meet each other and time for the big boys to catch up a little. Fishing off the dock where we stayed and boat rides were the highlight for the kids. We owe many thanks to Courtenay’s family for allowing us to stay at their holiday house. We all thought it was a great couple of days; it was great to see you three guys again and fantastic to see all your kids again. We’re already planning next years trip!
