Saturday Activities

I trust everybody’s weekend is going well? We had a pretty typical but very relaxing Saturday.

Lynne and Connor completed a large pillow, his reward for having read 25 books to us. He is doing very well in his reading, spurred on by a points system where he gets points for books and is able to redeem them for various items. 25 books = large batman pillow, what a bargain!

The kids had a morning of swimming practice during which and I managed a 4mile run in very cold (30F) windy weather, you can see the details here. Today is week six of my running streak, meaning I have run at least a mile every day since 06th Dec 2015. Isabel got out her rubber stamps in the afternoon. We also played about 20 games of Uno, Daddy was a clear winner today!

Finally, we had a wonderfully relaxing evening with Randy & Lorraine! Simply relaxing and enjoying great friends!

Penguin Plunge

This entire weekend will be consumed by the Penguin Plunge swim meet in Crawfordsville, IN. This will be our only out of town swim meet this season. Anja and I spent four hours here last night and now we are back again, it's 6:30am as I write this.     We will be here until approximately 5:30pm this evening and we do it all again tomorrow. I may post updates here as the weekend progresses.

For those not familiar with how well schools are funded in this country, the picture below of the 50M competition swimming pool for this meet, it is located at their local high school.

We have an extremely tired puppy tonight. A 5:30am wake-up call and a day of swimming will do that.

A Private Note from Isabel....

I love getting little notes from the kids, except if it reads like the one below from Isabel. This is not a new note, thankfully. I received it last summer but just found it again tonight as I was clearing stuff away.

Tonight I smiled a little more broadly upon reading than when I first read it, the poor laptop did indeed need to be repaired at some cost! I’ll have this little note and memory forever, however, and that’s priceless!

Isabel and Her Greek Gods

These two pictures of Isabel pretty much summarize her and to a lesser extent Anja’s Christmas holiday. They have poured their energy into the two Percy Jackson books they received, Greek Gods and Greek Heroes, and they have taken it to the next level. It inspired them both to work with Lynne on a Greek God Family tree. Amazing really.
